Something You Should Know: Though the country is small, it is extremely diverse: only about 10% of the population of the country are Qatari nationals, with the majority being immigrants from other countries such as India, the Philippines, Nepal, and Egypt.
OUR TRAVEL SUMMARY:
We spent a whirlwind 5 days in Doha — Qatar's capital city — during the 2022 FIFA World Cup. While we spent a lot of our time at matches, we did also try to experience as much of the city as we could during our time there. We stayed at a fan village given prices for hotels and Airbnbs were through the roof and relied on public transit and ride-sharing. Though the country doesn't hide its opulence, we found it surprisingly affordable to explore Doha's major sites, try local food, and experience the city's unique culture.
